In the coming months, Mezza Luna will be a brand-new addition to the Hauppauge community, where they will be serving classic, fine Italian cuisine in the former location of what was once a Hauppauge favorite, Mario Restaurant.

Following this year’s closure of Mario, two former staff members began their efforts to bring back the beloved cuisine, but in a brand-new way.

Having worked for 10 years as one of Mario’s beloved Maître Ds, as well as a General Manager for Long Island’s own Drift 82 & Lombardi’s on the Bay, Fred Norden developed a strong passion for his work, his customers, and for the world of cuisine. Alongside Norden at Mario was Peter A. Bua – Mario’s son who worked at his father’s business for over 25 years and is well-known by loyal customers who frequented the establishment. Following the closure of their beloved workplace, they both sought to continue sharing that love of Italian cuisine with patrons in the Hauppauge community through their newly developed restaurant Mezza Luna.

When visiting Mezza Luna, guests can expect a fresh take on classic Italian style, with its modernized interior design and expanded menu for all to enjoy. The restaurant will be offering table-side cooking, which will include the making of pasta, salad, desserts, and more! To pair with their entrees, guests will also be able to choose from a variety of drink selections from their extensive wine & cocktail menu. Not only will guests be able to dine there - but all will be able to celebrate their private events in-house or cater their off-premise events as well.

With plans to open in early September of this year, the Mezza Luna team is ecstatic to soon bring their dedication to fine-Italian cuisine to the Hauppauge community.
