Man Charged with Hit-and-Run on Pedestrian in Levittown, Officials Report

The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of a Levittown man for Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident involving a pedestrian struck, that occurred in Levittown.
 
According to detectives, a male pedestrian, 35, while attempting to cross north on Hempstead Turnpike, was struck by a black Dodge Ram pick-up truck traveling eastbound. The operator of the vehicle, John Roberts, 39, stopped briefly to assist the victim and then fled the scene.  
 
After a long period of time, Roberts returned to the scene where he was placed under arrest. The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing. 
 
The defendant, John Roberts, is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident with a Serious Physical Injury. He was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead.
