The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 2:21 pm in Elmont.
 
According to Detectives, Police responded to a G Street residence for a domestic disturbance. Officers were informed that a verbal argument occurred between the Defendant Kareem Howell, 34, of 2266 Ralph Avenue and a female victim, 32. The argument escalated and a physical altercation occurred resulting in the defendant striking the victim multiple times before forcibly grabbing her phone. The victim in fear for her life exited the residence. Upon arrival the defendant fled the scene on foot, but was located nearby. Police attempted to place him into custody, he became violent and combative causing two officers to sustain injuries during the course of the arrest. The injured officers were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries. The defendant was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
 
Defendant Kareem Howell is charged with two counts of Assault 2 nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4 th Degree, Harassment 2 nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Monday, July 14, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
