AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties... Richmond...Kings...Queens...New York...Bronx...Westchester... Rockland...Nassau...and Suffolk. from 11 AM this morning to 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone . The Air Quality Index...or AQI...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value...the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young...and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. First Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Freeport man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:25 a.m. in Freeport.
 
According to Detectives, officers while on routine patrol, observed the defendant Roberto Roldan, 46, operating a gray 2013 Chevrolet Impala, southbound on Nassau Road in Roosevelt. A vehicle and traffic law investigation was conducted at North Main Street and Davis Street when the defendant pulled his vehicle over. 
 
During the investigation officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and defendant was found to have a suspended license. The defendant was placed under arrest and a subsequent search was conducted of his vehicle. During the vehicle search officers discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun, located under the front passenger seat. A green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was also recovered inside the vehicle cup holder.
 
Roberto Roldan has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and three vehicle and traffic law infractions. He was arraigned on Sunday, July 14 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
