Freeport Man Busted with Drugs, Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop, NCPD Reports

First Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Freeport man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:25 a.m. in Freeport.
 
According to Detectives, officers while on routine patrol, observed the defendant Roberto Roldan, 46, operating a gray 2013 Chevrolet Impala, southbound on Nassau Road in Roosevelt. A vehicle and traffic law investigation was conducted at North Main Street and Davis Street when the defendant pulled his vehicle over. 
 
During the investigation officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and defendant was found to have a suspended license. The defendant was placed under arrest and a subsequent search was conducted of his vehicle. During the vehicle search officers discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun, located under the front passenger seat. A green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was also recovered inside the vehicle cup holder.
 
Roberto Roldan has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and three vehicle and traffic law infractions. He was arraigned on Sunday, July 14 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
