COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON ...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING MONDAY... * LOCATIONS...Southwestern Suffolk. * TIMING...From noon today to 4 PM EST this afternoon. * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * SHORELINE IMPACTS...The combination of elevated water levels and high surf along the ocean beachfront will result in significant beach erosion and localized splashovers around the times of high tide.

Suffolk County Announces Narcan Training Classes

Participants will receive a certificate of completion and an emergency resuscitation kit that includes nasal Narcan.

Suffolk County, NY - July 7, 2016 - County Executive Steve Bellone and Dr. James Tomarken, Commissioner of Health, are encouraging residents to take advantage of scheduled Opioid Overdose Prevention Program-Narcan Training Classes.

The training, which meets New York State Department of Health requirements, will enable participants to recognize an opioid overdose, administer intranasal Narcan and take additional steps until EMS arrives. Participants will receive a certificate of completion and an emergency resuscitation kit that includes nasal Narcan. The classes will take place as follows:

Prior to and in addition to Narcan training, the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Suffolk County Police Department will present “The Ugly Truth,” a program geared toward parents and teenagers regarding opioids.
