Officials: Fatal Auto Accident Involving a Pedestrian Reported in Long Beach

A 65 year-old male was riding his bicycle when it was struck by a 2015 Ford Explorer, police say.

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Auto Accident Involving a Pedestrian that occurred in Long Beach.
 
According to detectives, a 65 year-old male was riding his bicycle westbound on Emerson Place when it was struck by a 2015 Ford Explorer, which was traveling southbound on Austin Blvd. The aided suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a staff physician.
 
The driver of the vehicle, a 59 year-old male, remained at the scene and was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.  
 
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
