Radhika Chopra, the restaurateur who opened Jeera, drew from her family history - her mother runs Akbar, the Indian restaurant in Garden City - and an innovative idea to take the Indian food tradition and upgrade it to meet the disruption in the food service industry.

Jeera is a ghost kitchen run from Akbar that serves what they consider ethnoc but not intimidating and healthy yet tasty food with an environmentally conscious approach. Jeera can only be ordered for pickup and delivery.

The menu is simple yet expansive offering a variety of bowls, wraps and snack rolls all with a vegan option. You can choose from their signature food items or build your own online.

On Yelp, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Delicious food,” wrote Tiffany M, from East Meadow. “I'll definitely be ordering from this restaurant again and maybe actually pop in at some point. It's a perfect option for when you want real food but don't feel like cooking.”

Miten B, who comes from Washington, DC to Long Island for work, called Jeera a rare find.

“I ordered a lamb bowl and a thai basil wrap and they were both great,” he wrote. “Their hospitality also gets a 5 star. I was greeted at the door by a very nice lady who gave me the recommendations… Also, I have to mention that I love the sustainable packaging! Kudos!!”

James T, from Jackson Heights, Queens, tried the kati roll for the first time at Jeera.

“I think I've gotten hooked,” he wrote. “Think of all the traditional spices and flavours you'd expect from your favorite Indian restaurant, only in a portable and handheld packaging.”
