Hauppauge, NY - June 6, 2017 - Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn today recognized students from Robert Cushman Murphy and Paul J. Gelinas Junior High Schools for their outstanding successes during the Suffolk County MoMathlon Competition held at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The two Three Village School District teams competed strongly against 25 other schools, earning the top two honors in the County challenge and earning spots to the 2017 MoMathlon Tournament of Champions. That tournament, held at the MoMath Museum in New York City, consisted of four rounds - Individual, Team, Mixed team, and Team Relay – during which competitors were not allowed to use a calculator, only their brains and scrap paper, to compute the answers to questions posed on an IPad.

Up against the top 10 middle and junior high school teams in New York State, the Robert Cushman Murphy competitors placed 3rd in the state.
