Police: Two Men Arrested in Connection with Inwood Robbery and Assault

Inwood, NY - May 18, 2017 - Fourth Squad detectives report the arrest of Edward Henson, 56, of Lawrence and Andre Ivory, 45, of Far Rockaway in connection with an Attempted Robbery which occurred on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:20 am in Inwood.
 
According to detectives, a male victim, 54, was in Convenience Grocery located at 15 Bayview Avenue when an unshaven male black in his mid-30’s, 6’ 2” tall with a slim build wearing a black skull-cap, blue sweater and black jacket armed with a handgun entered the store.  
 
The suspect and the victim struggled at which time a round was discharged from the weapon. The victim fell to the floor at which time the suspect began to pistol whip him, causing a fractured skull and lacerations. No injuries were sustained from the shot.  
 
The suspect fled on foot westbound on Bayview Avenue. There was one employee in the store at the time of the incident who did not suffer any injuries. No proceeds were taken.
 
After a subsequent investigation by detectives, Henson, whose involvement, being the driver of the vehicle to the scene, was located and arrested on 3/30/2017.
 
Henson was charged with Assault 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, and Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree. He was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 3/31/2017.
 
On 5/17/2017, after a continuing investigation, Ivory, who was the subject inside the store, was located and placed under arrest. He is charged with Assault 1st Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 5/18/2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
