Great River, NY - May 11, 2014 - Kevin Capobianco, a Life Scout from Boy Scout Troop 205, Great River, NY is working on his Eagle Scout Badge. In addition to a Scout earning all the various rank advancements since he was in the fifth grade, earning 21 merit badges, and holding leadership positions - an Eagle Scout candidate must perform a major Eagle Scout Service Project - one that will benefit the community and a beneficiary organization. With Kevin's love for animals, he selected a project with the Suffolk County SPCA. Since there was a need for shelter for dogs, Kevin organized, planned, managed, and implemented the making of five dog houses this spring, along with over 20 Scouts from his Troop.
"Over the last 28 years, Boy Scout Troop 205 has had 52 Scouts become Eagle Scouts. As Scoutmaster, I am very proud of our Eagle Scouts, including Kevin - for all the wonderful things that they have done to make our community a better place. Kevin did an outstanding job with his dog house Eagle Project and am very happy that he helped the SPCA along with new dog owners," said Mark Businski, Scoutmaster of Troop 205.
Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk County SPCA commended the Eagle Scout for providing such a valuable service to the community. "The dog houses will be donated to people in need," Gross said.
