MTA: One Person Dead After LIRR Train Hits Car in Speonk

According to MTA Police, a Long Island Rail Road train collision on Monday evening with a car that was on the tracks of a Speonk train crossing has left the driver of the vehicle dead.

The incident took place at 6:25 p.m. at the South Bay Avenue crossing in Speonk, officials say.

LIRR representatives confirmed that at the time of the collision the crossing's gates were down and the warning flights were flashing.
