Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) proudly voted to approve a contract that will deliver key public safety resources from the STOP DWI Foundation to support the Rockville Centre Police Department’s efforts to combat drunk and drugged driving.

The Legislature’s Rules committee voted unanimously on Monday, May 5 to approve a contract that will award the village $4,000 for year one of a five-year agreement to defray police overtime costs for enhanced enforcement and visibility efforts, such as increased patrols and DWI checkpoints, during specific holiday periods.

“There is no excuse for driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol under any circumstances - and the STOP DWI program equips our partners in law enforcement to enforce the law and keep our roads safe,” Legislator Davis, a member of the Rules committee, said. “With Memorial Day weekend fast approaching, this action by the Legislature sends a clear message that, if you drive impaired, you will be held accountable for your actions.”
