Bohemia, NY – April 23, 2013 – FrontStreet Facility Solutions Inc. (FrontStreet) announced author and entrepreneur Peter Shankman will be the keynote speaker for the Second Annual Long Island Young Entrepreneur Challenge (LI YEC), addressing finalists and their families during the May 9 awards reception, sponsored in part by Capital One Bank. Having recently published his third book, “Nice Companies Finish First: Why Cutthroat Management Is Over – and Collaboration Is In,” the angel investor will share his vast business expertise and provide encouraging insight to Long Island’s budding entrepreneurs.
“It is rewarding to be able to offer young entrepreneurs advice as they launch their business plans,” Shankman said. “They really are fortunate to have the opportunity to tap into not only the funding provided by this competition but also the mentorship and business services.”
The LI YEC is a business pitch competition, engaging entrepreneurs, ages 17-22, who either live on Long Island or are enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited Long Island college or university. Funded through a partnership between FrontStreet and Capital One Bank, applicants compete for a chance to win $10,000 start-up funding, mentorship from a Capital One Bank executive, and other support essential to establishing a business.

The LI YEC will not only provide support, mentoring and guidance to budding entrepreneurs, it will also create a forum for networking and making connections that could benefit the future success of the participating entrepreneurs and the winning start-ups that will receive funding through the competition.
