Emergency crews and first responders are at the scene of a helicopter crash that took place in the Hudson River Thursday afternoon, according to reports.
The incident took place at approximately 3:15 p.m. near Pier 40 on West Houston Street and West Street, as per New York City Fire Department officials.
Witness accounts say that the chopper appeared to have a broken propeller when it went down in the water, making a "loud thumping sound" when it crashed.
FDNY Land Marine units are currently at the scene and rescue efforts are currently underway.
It is not known as of press time if there have been any fatalities involved with the incident.
