Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Copiague: Suffolk County Police Investigate

Suffolk County Police First Squad is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in Copiague, where a 61-year-old man was struck and killed by a southbound Toyota Corolla, and the driver was unharmed.

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Copiague last night.
 
A 61-year-old man was walking westbound across Great Neck Road, approximately 75 feet north of Oak Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2020 Toyota Corolla at approximately 8 p.m.
 
The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota, Douglas L, 34, of Copiague, was not injured.
 
The Toyota was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
