Long Islanders have stepped up to help out the people of Ukraine. Major corporations and regional law enforcement have been shipping items as diverse as bullet-proof vests and medical supplies to the war-torn nation. Local organizations have also been doing their part, raising funds and supplies for the civilians caught up in the conflict. Below we list just a few of the places you can donate to help right now.

Babylon Town Launches Effort to Aid Ukrainian Refugees

The Town of Babylon has launched a drive to collect monetary donations that will go toward supporting Ukrainian refugees who are fleeing the Russian invasion. The drive is being coordinated through the Industrial Development Agency with the goal of raising $25,000.

“The Town of Babylon is home to one of the largest Ukrainian populations on Long Island, and we will do everything we can to stand with the people of Ukraine, and with our friends and neighbors here at home who still have family and friends over there,” said Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer.

All proceeds collected through the drive will be donated to the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lindenhurst, which will work to disseminate through charitable organizations in countries where refugees are resettling.
