NCPD: Five Brooklyn Men Arrested for Looting Target Stores in Valley Stream and Westbury, Assaulting Police Officer

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of five Brooklyn men for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 10:55 pm in Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, police responded to Target, located at 500 West Sunrise Highway, for a larceny in progress.  Upon arrival, officers observed three male subjects at the scene and the subjects were placed under arrest. As Officers were attempting to place one of the three subjects under arrest, an Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. The Officer was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. The two other subjects fled on foot but were located shortly after and placed under arrest without incident.
 
Further investigation revealed that the five male subjects were also responsible for a previous larceny at a Target, located at 999 Corporate Drive in Westbury. 
 
Subsequent to the investigation, it was also discovered that the defendants were traveling in a 2023 Jeep and 2024 Acura that had been reported stolen.
 
Defendants Michael Turner, 32, and Shukur Turner, 27, of 1410 E New York Avenue, Ty Quan Spann, 28, of 260 Mother Gaston Boulevard, Mario Mervilus, 26, of 10 Amboy Street, Apt 2G and Kendell Poole, 25, of 1400 E New York Avenue are all charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 3rd degree and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 1st degree. Additionally, defendant Kendell Poole is also charged with Assault 2nd degree. All five defendants will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
