Man Arrested for Stealing Pit Bull Puppy

Suffolk County Police arrested a man for stealing a puppy after responding to an unrelated call in Amityville last night.

Donovan Davis, 23, of North Amityville, was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny.

Amityville, NY - January 9, 2016 - Suffolk County Police arrested a man for stealing a puppy after responding to an unrelated call in Amityville last night.

First Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 call about a disturbance on Overland Avenue at approximately 9 p.m. While interviewing a male subject, the officers noticed movement inside a bag in the man’s possession. The man then pulled a pit bull puppy out of the bag and admitted that he had taken the dog earlier in the day from a woman who agreed to meet with him about purchasing the puppy.

Donovan Davis, 23, of North Amityville, was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny.  He is being held at the First Precinct and will be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

The pit bull puppy was returned to the owner.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
