In a letter to the community, Long Island Community Hospital announced that it is closing its Hospital Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine center located at 300 Kennedy Drive in Hauppauge. The reason, according to a letter sent to the Smithtown Town Supervisor Ed Wehrheim, the hospital, is that the landlord of the office told the medical provider they would not be renewing the lease.

The clinic will close at the end of February.

Hauppauge center patients can continue to receive care at the hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center in Patchogue, located at 33 Medford Avenue, Suite 2.

The clinic treats patients with chronic wounds that do not respond to standard medical care. According to the clinic website, many of these wounds are associated with inadequate circulation, immobility and diabetes. When wounds persist, a specialized approach is required for healing.
