Man on Bicycle Arrested for Bagel Store Burglary

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Lake Ronkonkoma man after he fled the scene of a commercial burglary on a bicycle.

Mathew McCauley, 51, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was arrested and charged with Burglary and a parole violation.

Commack, NY - January 25, 2016 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Lake Ronkonkoma man after he fled the scene of a commercial burglary on a bicycle.   

Mathew McCauley burglarized Mayfair Bagels, located at 10 Jericho Turnpike, at approximately 4:45 a.m. Fourth Precinct officers responded to an automatic alarm at the business and located McCauley, who fled the scene on a bicycle, in the area a short time later. 

McCauley, 51, of Lake Ronkomkoma, was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and a parole violation and is scheduled to be arraigned on January 26 in First District Court in Central Islip.

Fourth Squad detectives are continuing the investigation as to McCauley’s possible involvement in other recent burglaries in the Commack area.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
