Hempstead Man Arrested for Stealing Checks & Debit Card from Local Senior

Hempstead, NY - January 8th, 2015 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for Grand Larceny on Wednesday, January 07, 2015 at 4:50 p.m. in Hempstead.

According to detectives, beginning in July 2014 Tyrone Pyatt, 27 of Terrace Avenue stole (2) two checks from a 60 year old female victim, forged her signature and then deposited the checks, which were made payable to him.  Pyatt also obtained the victim’s debit card and made purchases in excess of $4700.00. The total loss to the victim was in excess of $12,000.00 dollars. Bureau of Special Operations Officers located Pyatt on Wednesday, January 07, 2015 at his residence and placed him under arrest without incident.

Pyatt is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree, and (2) two counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
