The cold weather is fast approaching - we’re just a mere week away from Thanksgiving, and Winter is right around the corner! Here are some ways to make the most out of this season. Now that fall is almost over, New Yorkers are trying to prepare themselves for the cold upcoming months.

There are plenty enjoyable
things to do all over New York, whether you live on Long Island, in one of the five boroughs, or Upstate. People may love New York but aren’t fans of its harsh winter weather.  Once Fall comes to an end, New Yorkers get to look forward to brushing snow off their cars and sitting by the fire with hot chocolate.

If you’re looking to get out of the house, these different areas all offer fun cold weather activities. For those of you who don’t enjoy being outside in the cold, don’t worry, you don’t need to stay home in front of the fire because we have the perfect places for you!

When people think of Long Island, they think of its beaches.  No matter what direction you go, you will eventually reach the water - it’s just a matter of whether you enjoy the North or South Shore!  Many people aren’t aware that Long Island has plenty of indoor activities as well. From sporting events to museums, it’s impossible to be bored, no matter what you enjoy.

Sporting events are a great way to enjoy time with friends or family. You can catch a hockey or basketball game at one of the local arenas or coliseums. If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, universities allow anyone to come watch their games as well. College games can become pretty intense too!

You can teach your children about Long Island’s amazing history by checking out some of the exciting museums Long Island has to offer. This is a great way to spend time with your family all while enhancing their knowledge about where they live. Whatever sparks your interest, there’s a museum for it. Whether you enjoy science, arts, cars or airplanes there is sure to be a museum that satisfies your taste.

Moving off Long Island, we bring you to New York City - known as the “city that never sleeps”. It is one of the top places for entertainment.  No matter what season it is, there is always something to do. It is extremely close to Long Island and it’s simple to jump on a train if you don’t want to make the drive.  If you’re in need of a good laugh, comedy shows are all over New York City that offer great deals.  If you’re in the mood for some music instead, there’s sure to be a venue for you.  Check out all the nightlife hot spots New York has to offer.

New York City is very well known for its theatres, especially on Broadway. Shows are featured here that anyone of any age will enjoy. The Christmas Spectacular is a popular choice this time of year and attracts people from all over the country.  To add to the Christmas charm, you can visit the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center where you can ice skate at their world-famous ice rink.  You don’t have to stay in New York City either because Long Island has a lot of enjoyable theatres as well.  If you live on Long Island and want to stay local, there are dozens all over. No matter what direction you head, you will come across one that you’re sure to enjoy!

If you travel a bit further from New York City, you will reach what we call “Upstate” New York.  There are plenty of adventures waiting for you here.  You can visit places like Lake George, Saratoga Springs and the state’s capital of Albany.  There are numerous amounts of lodges in Upstate if you enjoy skiing, snowboarding or tubing all while taking in the amazing views.  This part of New York gets an incredible amount of snow, so if you like the outdoors, this is the place for you.  It is worth the drive whether you would like to have some fun with friends or just enjoy a quiet getaway with loved ones.
