Old Bethpage Man's Violent Arrest After Threatening Assault on Elderly Victim Leaves Two Officers Injured

A 39-year-old Old Bethpage man, Daniel Blustein, faces charges of Assault, Obstructing Governmental Administration, and Resisting Arrest after making threats to a 66-year-old female victim, resulting in a violent arrest that left two officers injured.

Eighth Squad Detectives report the arrest of an Old Bethpage man for an
Assault that occurred on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm in Old Bethpage.
 
According to detectives, police responded to a Simpson Drive residence for a
domestic disturbance. Upon police arrival, officers were informed that Defendant
Daniel Blustein, 39, had made several verbal threats towards a female victim, 66,
placing her in fear for her life. While officers attempted to place Blustein into
custody, he violently resisted, ignoring officers verbal commands. Police were
eventually able to secure the defendant and place him into custody. As a result of
the defendant actively resisting arrest, two officers sustained injuries and were
transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
 
Defendant Daniel Blustein is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2 nd
Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. He will be
arraigned on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street,
Hempstead.
