Mark Riley, veteran talk radio host and political pundit, brings the WWRL (1600AM) prime time Morning Show back to Zucotti Park on Wednesday, October 26th for an early morning series of conversations with the Occupy Wall Street movement (OWS). The program airs from 6-9AM EST, and Wednesday marks the second show on-site at the OWS encampment. The first show aired October 10th.

Riley has been steadfastly supportive of Occupy Wall Street even early on when others in the media were highly critical. "It never bothered me that this movement had no defined leadership and made decisions based on reaching consensus ", Riley says. This lack of formal structure, which led some to demonize the movement as vague, is actually its strong suit, according to Mark Riley. "One of my guests during the first visit described the deliberative process as painful. It was then I realized they were trying to achieve true democracy, a noble undertaking indeed".

WWRL Executive Producer Jeff Haveson has reached out to the OWS media committee to engage an interesting roster of guests for the October 26 broadcast (TBA). Guests on the first show included members of the movement's various committees (sanitation, media, people of color, and others) as well as explanations from General Assembly members as to how the movement works and how decisions are made.

"The first live broadcast wasn't without its challenges", says Mark Riley. "But it was well worth tackling and overcoming those challenges when they arose, as only then we were able to bring to our audience a non-judgmental look at what's become a very important undertaking".

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is an ongoing series of demonstrations in New York City based in Zuccotti Park in the Wall Street financial district. The protests were initiated by the Canadian activist group Adbusters. They are mainly protesting social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and the power and influence over government of corporations, particularly from the financial service sector, and of lobbyists.
