Hempstead Man Armed with Gun Arrested for Assaulting a NCPD Officer

The First Squad reports on the arrest of a Hempstead man for the Assault on an Officer that occurred on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 10:55 PM in Uniondale.
 
According to Detectives, while on routine patrol, Critical Incident Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) Officers were canvassing in the rear parking lot of 959 Nassau Road when they observed defendant David Schenck, 30, of 60 Maplewood Street, suspiciously walking in the parking lot where numerous businesses were closed and vehicles were parked. The area has been known for numerous burglary and vehicle thefts. 
 
When Officers attempted to conduct an interview with the defendant he fled, pushing an Officer to the ground in the process, causing numerous contusions and lacerations to his left shoulder and arm. Additional Officers responded to scene and attempted to place defendant David Schenck under arrest, an additional Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest, as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. 
 
Further investigation resulted in a loaded 9mm pistol being recovered from the defendant. Defendant David Schenck and the two injured Officer were all transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. 
 
Defendant David Schenck is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree. 
 
Defendant David Schenck was arraigned on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
