Third Precinct officers report the arrest of a Hempstead woman for an incident that occurred on August 5, 2014 at 5:30 pm in East Garden City.

East Garden City, NY - August 6th, 2014 - Third Precinct officers report the arrest of a Hempstead woman for an incident that occurred on August 5, 2014 at 5:30 pm in East Garden City.

According to officers, Patricia Juarez, 44, of 67 Terrace Avenue, Apt. C14, left her 7 year old son unattended in the Lego Store at Roosevelt Field Mall, 630 Old Country Road, while she shopped at other stores in the mall.

The store’s manager, who became concerned for the wellbeing of the unsupervised child, contacted mall security who called 911. During the investigation it was learned that the child was left unattended for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Juarez, who then returned to the store, was placed under arrest without incident. The child was released to a family member.

Juarez is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and an unrelated warrant for Petit Larceny. She will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 08/06/2014.
