Melville, NY, April 7, 2011-Marcum LLP, one of the largest independent public accounting and advisory services firms in the nation, the largest accounting firm on Long Island and the title sponsor of the annual Marcum Workplace Challenge (http://marcumworkplacechallenge.com), announces that fourteen other Long Island companies have stepped up to date to sponsor the 2011 charitable event at Jones Beach State Park. This year's race will take place July 26 and will benefit the Long Island Children's Museum, the Children's Medical Fund of New York, and Long Island Cares, Inc.-The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Launched in 2005, the 3.5-mile Marcum Workplace Challenge (http://marcumworkplacechallenge.com) is Long Island's largest participatory sporting event and "Company Picnic." It attracts thousands of participants from more than 200 companies, non-profit organizations, schools and governmental agencies and their families and friends. Since its inception, the Marcum Workplace Challenge has raised nearly $150,000 for local charities. The event is managed by the Greater Long Island Running Club under the direction of Event Director Mindy Davidson.
