Vigil Held for Shannan Gilbert

Just one month after finding the remains of Shannan Gilbert friend and family gathered to remember the slain woman. The group visited the marsh along Oak Beach where her remains had been discovered. Investigators believe that Gilbert, who worked as an escort, drowned after someone saw her running from a client’s home nearby. Mari Gilbert, Shannan’s mother, disagrees and feels that her daughter was murdered, having been a victim of the same killer or killers behind the deaths of ten other people whose bodies have been found in the area.
