Three Arrested after Shots Fired in Freeport

Three individuals have been arrested for Criminal Possession of a Firearm and additional charges.

Freeport, NY - August 29, 2014 - The First Squad reports the details of three arrests for Criminal Possession of a Firearm that occurred on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 1:00 am in Freeport.
 
According to detectives, a 55 year old female victim was inside her Pine Street home when she heard gun shots in front of her residence.  A white U-Haul truck was observed fleeing the area.  The victim called 911 and Freeport Police Officers responded to the home.  A description was given and Nassau County Officers from the Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) observed the vehicle driving southbound on Nassau Road and tried to conduct a vehicle traffic stop. The truck containing three occupants (one female driver) refused to pull over and was observed throwing a dark colored handgun out the window. Officers were able to stop the vehicle on Berkley Place.  The subjects then exited the automobile and attempted to flee on foot.  Defendants Derrick Watson, 45, of 45 Front Street, Hempstead, Tyrone Hollingsworth, 28, of 68 Cunningham Avenue, Uniondale and Shea Rainey, 29, of 234 Eseaman Avenue, Freeport were apprehended and placed under arrest.  A black handgun was recovered on East Clinton Avenue and two shell casing were recovered in front of the Pine Street residence. 
 
Subsequent to the arrest, detectives determined that defendants Tyrone Hollingsworth and Shea Rainey committed a burglary at the same Pine Street, Freeport home on August 24, 2014. Proceeds were a cell phone.
 
The defendants are being charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm.   Defendant Shea Rainey is being charged additionally with Burglary 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment. Defendant Tyrone Hollingsworth is being additionally charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Resisting Arrest.  They will be arraigned on August 29, 2014 at First District Court, Hempstead.
