Farmingdale, NY - October 11th, 2013 - Second Squad detectives report the arrest of a Gloucester City, New Jersey woman on 10/09/2013.

According to detectives, Cathleen Toomey, 29, of 233 Essex Street, on October 5, 2013, at 6:35 pm, while with another subject yet to be arrested, forced open the rear door to a Nelson Street home. While inside the defendant removed a 52 inch television, laptop computer, ipod, camera and assorted jewelry. The victim homeowner, as she was arriving home, observed the subjects driving away from the scene and called 911 upon entering her home and observing the loss of her property.

On October 6, 2013 around 2:20 pm, Toomey, with her then boyfriend, Nicholas Montorano, who is yet to be arrested, broke into a vehicle that was in the parking lot of LA Fitness, 1111 Marcus Avenue, North New Hyde Park, removed a pocketbook and a black tote bag.

On October 8, 2013 around 6:30 pm, Toomey and a subject yet to be arrested were responsible for breaking into and stealing a pocketbook from a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of Planet Fitness, 3025 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown.

On October 8, 2013 at 7:30 pm, Toomey, and another yet to be arrested, broke into a parked vehicle at the New York Sports Club, 625 Merrick Avenue, East Meadow and again removed a pocketbook.

On October 9, 2013, the defendant, along with Montorano, were apprehended by the U.S. Marshalls in response to a New Jersey police investigation. Montorano was arrested on charges from New Jersey and is being held for processing. Toomey was taken into custody by investigating detectives and a subsequent investigation led detectives to the information regarding the above incidents.

Toomey is charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, three (3) counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. She will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 10/10/2013.
