Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Struck in Massapequa by Motorist Making Illegal Left Turn

NCPD are investigating a Pedestrian Struck that occurred on Sunday, July 30, in Massapequa.

Massapequa, NY - July 31, 2017 - The Homicide Squad is investigating a Pedestrian Struck that occurred on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 7:15 am in Massapequa.
 
According to detectives, a 65 year-old male victim was walking out of the Bolla Market (Mobile Gas station) 5389 Merrick Road, when a 47 year old male driving a 2009 Dodge Charger travelling eastbound on Merrick Road, made a left hand turn into the parking lot, passing two (2) “Do Not Enter” signs. The driver struck the victim who was approaching his parked vehicle located by the gas pumps.  
 
The victim was transported by Nassau County Police Department Helicopter # 6 to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The vehicle was brake tested at the scene. 
 
The investigation is ongoing.
