SCPD are investigating a vehicle crash that injured a pedestrian in Smithtown.

Smithtown, NY - December 31, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Smithtown on Sunday, December 30.
 
Carmine Mandarano was in the westbound lane on Main Street when he was struck by a Dodge pickup truck that was turning onto Main Street from Lawrence Avenue. Mandarano, 66, of Northport, was transported via Smithtown Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
 
The driver of the Dodge, Richard O’Connor, 23, of Kings Park, was not injured.
 
The Dodge was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
