The Town of Huntington, in conjunction with the Greenlawn Civic Association (GCA) will begin phase one of a comprehensive construction project to enhance vehicle, pedestrian, and bicyclist safety along Broadway in Greenlawn.
This public safety project is the result of the Town of Huntington and the GCA receiving a JumpStart Grant from Suffolk County totaling $650,000 in 2023. After collaborating with Town Engineers and Transportation & Traffic Safety Departments to develop design concepts and details, and after public meetings with the Greenlawn community, the first part of the project is set to begin. In summary, the project will incorporate various traffic calming measures and new crosswalks equipped with push-button activated lighting.
Beginning Monday, August 11, 2025, the Town of Huntington will undergo the first phase of the construction efforts in Greenlawn to reconstruct sidewalks for ADA Compliance. Work will take place Monday – Friday from 7:00am – 4:00pm and be completed in 1 – 2 weeks (Weather permitting).
Construction will take place along segments of Broadway-Greenlawn Road between LIRR crossing and East & West Maple Roads in Greenlawn. Those that need to drive in the area should be aware that the construction operation may cause intermittent, isolated traffic delays.
