NCPD: Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Two Vehicles While Crossing Street in Bethpage

A female, 66 years of age, was attempting to cross Hempstead Turnpike when the incident took place, officials report.

Bethpage, NY - December 11, 2017 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident involving a pedestrian on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 5:07 p.m. in Bethpage.
 
According to detectives, a female, 66 years of age, while attempting to cross Hempstead Turnpike southbound near Emerson Ave., was struck by a 2008 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 39 year old male. She was then struck by a second vehicle, a 2008 Honda CRV driven by a 24 year old male. Both of the vehicles were traveling straight in an eastbound direction. 
 
As a result of the collision, the female victim suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased by a Levittown/Wantagh Fire Department AMT.
 
Both of the operators remained at scene. The vehicles was brake and safety tested.  Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
