East Patchogue, NY - December 17, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested an East Patchogue man for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a man in East Patchogue on Saturday, December 15.
 
Darwin Lopez was crossing East Main Street at Evergreen Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound 2003 Dodge Caravan driven by Jose Pina at 6:24 p.m. Lopez, 27, of East Patchogue, was transported by North Patchogue Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.
 
Pina, 49, of East Patchogue, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, December 16.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
