About 400 people braved the rain on December 10 to raise more than $200,000 to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro and donate gifts to families with a sick child in the hospital – and celebrate a milestone for the woman who’s made it all possible.

The “Friends & Family Holiday Party” is organized every year by Theresa Brucculeri of Bayside, NY, who has been raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro for 40 years. Since she started in 1983, she has helped to raise more than $5 million to benefit Ronald McDonald House. This year’s event was held at Leonard’s Palazzo in Great Neck.

“I can’t explain the gratification and joy I get from doing this,” said Brucculeri. “It makes such a difference for all the families we serve at the house.”

Located steps away from Cohen Children’s Hospital and their children’s bedsides, the 42-bedroom Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park provides the comforts of a home and compassionate care that meet the unique needs of families with sick children. With access to top hospitals and doctors, families can stay nearby and involved in their children’s care.

“We are do grateful to Theresa for her dedication to our families and our mission year after year,” said Matt Campo, CEO of RMHC NYM. “We couldn’t do this work without her.”

Over four decades, Theresa and her family have also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, served on countless boards and guided fundraising efforts.

“It’s a place you don’t want to have to stay, but if you do, it’s the only place you want to stay,” said Brucculeri of the Ronald McDonald House.
