Major Long Island Organizations Unite for Festival to Celebrate Honeybees

Sweet Bee’s Honey Festival will debut at the Cradle of Aviation Museum.

Garden City, NY - October 25, 2018 - Sweet Bee’s Honey Festival will debut on Long Island at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY, across from the Nassau Coliseum, on Sunday, November 4, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
 
Attendees will celebrate the life and work of the honeybee with tastings and sales of a wide variety of local, regional and international honeys, as well as baked goods, chocolates, specialty foods, ready-to-eat foods and local craft beverages (meads, wines, spirits, hard ciders and sodas) from approximately 80 vendor booths.

Participating organizations include: 
 
Each organization will be making presentations related to honeybees and/or offering activities for Honey Festival guests. This is also the first time that major organizations on Long Island are joining forces to focus attention on the honeybee.

To further “Celebrate the Bee,” Airigami, LLC, of Rochester, NY, will construct and display a giant honeybee sculpture composed completely of 100% biodegradable balloons in the Cradle of Aviation Museum’s atrium lobby. Airigami’s creations have been featured worldwide, however this will be their first project on Long Island.
 
Admission to Sweet Bee’s Honey Festival includes:
 
  • Entry to all Cradle of Aviation air & space exhibits including the new “Space: A Journey to Our Future” exhibit, which is part of the Museum’s “Apollo at 50” celebration.
  • Showings of “Backyard Wilderness” in the Cradle of Aviation Museum’s JetBlue Airways Planetarium at no extra charge (regularly $9/adult & $8/child). Created by Academy Award-nominated filmmakers, Backyard Wilderness will surprise and entertain viewers with the unexpected wonders of nature that are right under our noses – in our own backyards.
  • All Seminars and Demonstrations
  • A Family-Friendly Scavenger Hunt
  • Children’s Activities
  • Face Painting
  • Live Music & Magic Performances
Tickets can be purchased online at www.HoneyFestival.com for $15/adult and $10/child (ages 2 to 12). At the door, tickets are $20/adult and $15/child (ages 2 to 12).
 
A “Late Day Special” ticket for admission after 5 p.m. is available online for just $10/person (all ages 2 and up). At the door, the Late Day Special is $15/person.

Sweet Bee’s Honey Festival will be sponsoring a Pre-Thanksgiving Food Drive from Saturday, October 27th to Sunday, November 4th, to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Long Island Cares. To help neighbors in need, area residents are asked to drop off non-perishable food items at collection boxes located at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Friends of the Hempstead Plains, Old Westbury Gardens and the Girls Scouts of Nassau County. Additionally, Old Westbury Gardens will have a special Pet Food Drive for the Harry Chapin Food Bank on Saturday, Oct. 27th, and Sunday, October 28th, during their annual fall “Dog Days” event.
 
Sweet Bee's Honey Festival is produced by Baum Image Group, which also produces The Chocolate Expo, America’s largest chocolate festival.
