BABYLON, NY - The Town of Babylon is set to pay a poignant tribute to the heroes of the Vietnam War by hosting The Wall That Heals, a moving traveling exhibit, from October 5 to 8, 2023, at Tanner Park in Copiague. The exhibit, a 375-foot replica of the renowned Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., stands as a solemn testament to the valor of over three million Americans who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and honors the memory of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice on Vietnamese soil.

This initiative harks back to a similar event in 1995 when a smaller replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall drew throngs of visitors to Town Hall. Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer expressed unequivocal support for bringing this powerful exhibit back to the community.

"When we talked about doing this again, it was a no-brainer," Schaffer remarked. "We are grateful to have the opportunity to support our veterans in this meaningful manner and provide access to a powerful monument to all in our community. We would like to especially thank Charles Spencer for his instrumental role in bringing this exhibit to the Town."

The Wall That Heals extends the healing legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., offering thousands of veterans a chance to embark on their own personal healing journeys. By allowing them to encounter The Wall in the familiarity of their own communities, it empowers them to find strength and courage in their shared experiences. Moreover, it serves as a vital source of solace for the families and friends of veterans and serves as an educational tool for members of the community eager to learn about this crucial chapter in American history.

Chair of the Town of Babylon Veterans Advisory Council and Councilman DuWayne Gregory expressed his honor in hosting The Wall That Heals, noting, "I believe it will truly have a profound impact on our residents and encourage all to engage with this important exhibit."

As the exhibit graces Tanner Park, volunteers will play a pivotal role in ensuring its success.

The Town of Babylon's decision to host The Wall That Heals underscores its commitment to honoring the service and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans and ensuring that their stories and bravery continue to be remembered and revered by future generations.
