Cops: Suspect Apprehended After Breaking into Farmingdale Apartment, Assaulting 75 Year-Old Man

Farmingdale, NY - August 14, 2017 - The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Farmingdale man for Burglary that occurred in Farmingdale on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 3:57 am.
 
According to detectives, a 75 year old male victim after hearing banging sounds opened his Eastern Parkway apartment door at which time the defendant Pedro Callejas, 42, immediately began punching the victim in his face, chest, and arms. Defendant Callejas also bit the victim on his left arm and choked him. 
 
Family members that heard the confrontation came to the victim’s aid and restrained the defendant until police arrived. Second Precinct Police responded and did place defendant Pedro Callejas into police custody without incident. The victim suffered lacerations to his left eye and forearm along with multiple bruises. He was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital and was treated for his injuries.
 
Pedro Callejas is charged with Burglary 1st Degree, and Assault 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, August 14, 2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
