West Hempstead, NY - February 19, 2017 - The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a West Hempstead man for Assault that occurred in West Hempstead on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 8:30 am.
According to detectives, the defendant Ednilson David Cruz Alvarado, 24, of West Hempstead was attempting to touch a 35 year old female victim inappropriately while in his residence. The victim pushed the defendant away at which time Alvarado punched the victim in the mouth causing a tooth to fall out. He then continued to punch and kick the victim in the stomach, legs, and right arm. The victim fled the residence and dialed 911 notifying that Alvarado barricaded himself in his bedroom after hurting her. Fifth Precinct Police along with the Nassau County Police Emergency Services Unit, and Bureau of Special Operations Unit responded and were able to gain entry into the residence and place the defendant Alvarado into police custody. The victim was treated at a local nearby hospital for contusions to her right arm. The defendant was later transported and treated for chest pains.
Ednilson David Cruz Alvarado is being charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Attempted Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, Bail Jumping 2nd Degree, and two open outstanding warrants.
Alvarado will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, February 20, 2017.
