Convicted pedophile and multi-millionaire Jeffrey Epstein died overnight in an apparent suicide, law enforcement sources told the media on Saturday.

A gurney carrying a man who looked like Epstein was wheeled into New York Downtown Hospital around 7:30 a.m.

A call for a reported cardiac arrest came in at 6:38 a.m., Fire Department sources said.

Epstein was being held without bail awaiting trial in New York City on charges of conspiracy and sex trafficking. Epstein had pleaded not guilty.

Last month, the 66-year-old had been on suicide watch after he was found in his cell with injuries consistent with attempting to take his own life.

He was accused of having paid girls as young as 14 to have sex with him at his Upper East Side home and his estate in Palm Beach, Florida, between 2002 and 2005. Prosecutors say he used employees and associates to lure the girls to his residences, and then paid some of his victims to recruit other girls for him to abuse.
