The Firefighter Association of the State of New York (FASNY) will host their 153rd Annual Meeting August 7th-9th in Hauppauge, at the Hyatt Regency Long Island on Motor Parkway. FASNY is expecting a total of more than 1,000 firefighters, their guests and dignitaries from across the state in attendance.
In addition to the business sessions and meetings, FASNY will have a full slate of firefighter training programs, and social and networking events for the volunteer firefighters coming from all across New York State. This week of activities also include a Joint Memorial Service honoring FASNY members who answered their last alarm, the annual Heroes Awards, Training and Demo events, Scholarship Night and the elections for FASNY several offices.

9am: Opening Ceremonies
- Presentation of the Colors and related ceremonial opening of the Convention
- Welcome and Introductions by Fire Service leaders and local Elected Officials
- 10am: Joint Memorial Service- Remembering Our Deceased Members
- Hundreds of firefighters in Dress Uniforms
- Reading of the necrology and candles lit for every FASNY member across the state who passed in the last year
- Tolling of the Memorial Bell
- Playing of Taps
- FASNY 2025 Firefighter of the Year- members of the Pleasant Valley Fire Department
- FASNY 2025 EMS Provider of the Year - members of the Otisco Fire Department
- 11am: Heroes Award- Honoring the statewide recipients of the FASNY Firefighter of the Year & EMS Provider of the Year awards for their life saving actions.
- 1:30pm: Keynote Speaker Patrick Kenney- Chief Kenny shares his journey to overcome what he perceived as his failure as a leader in his most cherished duty — that of being a protector. His “Cape” failed to shield his 20-year-old son Sean, who tragically died by suicide after a lifelong battle with mental illness. This anguish was further complicated by Pat’s role as the leader of a fire department. The Chief will share lessons learned and valuable information about the need for first responders to take care of their own mental health.

- 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. - H.O.T. | Train Extrication | START Triage | Fire Police | Mental Health- FASNY understands that emergency disaster response includes planning, preparing, responding to, and recovering from disasters. This event will provide participants with a better understanding of command and management plan for a mass casualty incident. Individuals signing up for this one-of-a-kind training will be expected to partake in at least ONE portion of the demonstration. Selections include Fire (Extrication), Fire Police and EMS (Triage). Together all attendees will combine important roles to execute a full emergency scene scenario from start to finish. This training will weave in the inclusion of a mental health component focusing on the actions taken directly before, during and after disaster strikes.
