When it opened in March the pandemic had already forced many businesses to change the way they were doing things, and restaurants were forgoing dine-in eating for take out. In that unfortunate situation Buttermilk's Chicken opened - transformed from the old Rizzo's Kitchen. One of the biggest challenges the restaurant faced at the time was running out of supply to feed demand.

On March 19, their Facebook page announced that they were “completely wiped out of chicken. We are overwhelmed by your response and amazing comments.”

They say that their menu is where all the comforts of home and convenience of take out meet.

They have chicken sandwiches like the Kickin’ Chicken which is  crispy chicken, sriracha honey, lettuce, and tomato drizzled with ranch ($5.99) or The Farmhouse with crispy chicken, applewood smoked bacon, and cheddar cheese topped with ranch sauce ($6.99). Make the chicken sandwiches a combo for two bucks more and you get farmhouse fries or onion rings. They also offer just chicken piece combos as well as shrimp boats, soups, and wings.

Location: Buttermilk's Chicken, 93 E Main Street, East Islip , (631) 581-3000.
