Suffolk County Police arrested a man for robbing a Holbrook convenience store.

Kevin Chieffo entered 7-Eleven, located at 796 Broadway Ave., and pretended to make a purchase. When the employee opened the register, Chieffo reached in to grab cash. The female employee attempted to stop the man and the pair struggled before Chieffo was able to break free and flee with cash. A security guard, who was in the store getting coffee, called police and followed Chieffo until officers arrived and took him into custody a short distance away. The employee was not injured.

Chieffo, 42, of East Patchogue, was charged with Robbery 3rd Degree. He was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
