NCPD: Valley Stream Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Two Victims

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Valley Stream man for an assault that occurred on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 12:15 A.M. in Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, an unknown person got into a verbal altercation with defendant Jose Alvarez, 54, inside of La Perla De Oriente Restaurente, located at 22 West Merrick Road. During this verbal altercation defendant Jose Alvarez did strike this person with a glass bottle. Both the victim and defendant were asked to leave. 
 
Outside the restaurant the defendant continued to argue and struck a 33-year-old male victim with a sharp object causing a laceration to his ear, the defendant also struck a second victim, 36-year-old male, causing a laceration to his cheek. The defendant then left the scene in a 2010 Nissan. The defendant was located a short time later and placed under arrest without incident. Two victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
 
Jose Alvarez is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of a weapon 3rd degree. He was arraigned on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.  
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
