Bay Shore Teenager Arrested after Fatally Stabbing Brother, Authorities Report

SCPD arrested Robert Rivera of Bay Shore, 19, after he fatally stabbed his younger brother.

Bay Shore, NY - August 27, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested a man after he fatally stabbed his younger brother in Bay Shore on Friday, August 24.
 
Third Precinct officers responded to a 911 report of a stabbing at the residence located at 1726 North Thompson Drive at 7:22 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Brian Castillo lying on the ground with a stab wound to the neck. Castillo, 17, of Bay Shore was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
After a search of the area, officers located the victim’s brother, Robert Rivera at approximately 7:40 p.m. Rivera, 19, of Bay Shore was arrested and charged with Murder 2nd Degree. Rivera was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 25.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
