Bethpage Man Assaulted Social Worker During Evaluation, NCPD Reports

Officials: Richard Schipani, 63, allegedly threw the female victim to the floor and punched her multiple times.

Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Bethpage man for Assault that occurred in East Garden City.
According to Detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at the Nassau County Social Services Building, located at 60 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard. While being evaluated by a social worker, the defendant Richard Schipani, 63, became combative and threw the female victim to the floor. 
While the victim was on the floor he began punching her multiple times to her head and chest area. After a brief struggle with the responding officers the defendant was placed into custody. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The defendant Richard Schipani has been charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
