"Coastal Flood Advisory" ...Coastal flood advisory now in effect from 4 am to 8 am EST Friday... * locations...vulnerable coastal locales along western Long Island Sound. * Tidal departure...3 to 3 1/2 ft above astronomical tides. * Coastal flood impacts...shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the Waterfront and shoreline. Expect around 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, Parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the Waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * Shoreline impacts...breaking waves will result in beach erosion and flooding with minor damage possible to dune structures during the times of high tide. * Timing...around the times of high tide tonight. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore. , "Special Statement" ...An area of heavy snow will affect southern New London... Fairfield...southern Middlesex...New Haven...Hudson...Passaic... Union...Bergen...Essex...Orange...Putnam...Queens...Richmond... Bronx...Kings...Rockland...Westchester...Suffolk...New York (manhattan) and Nassau counties... At 359 PM EST, an area of heavy snow was located along a line extending from Columbia to Chatham to Brookville to 6 miles south of Shinnecock Hills. Movement was northeast at 30 mph. Locations impacted include... Islip, Newark, Jersey City, Jamaica, Yonkers, Paterson, Bridgeport, New Haven, Elizabeth, Stamford, Flatbush, Norwalk, Danbury, New Rochelle and Flushing. Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter of a mile in this area of heavy snow. Snowfall rates will average between 1 and 2 inches an hour. Travel will be difficult and should be avoided where possible. Icy roads are possible as the snow melts on the roads then quickly refreezes. Mangano Offers Free Photo ID's For Senior Citizens This Summer

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano is providing free Senior Citizen photo identification cards this summer.

Nassau County, NY - July 7, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano is providing free Senior Citizen photo identification cards this summer. These free senior citizen identification cards include a photo, name, address, phone number, birthdate and emergency contact information.

County Executive Mangano said, “The Senior Citizen Photo Identification Program provides residents with a convenient way to keep important information on a single, wallet sized ID card. The ID card serves as an important tool in the event of an emergency as it allows first responders to quickly identify you and the person that should be contacted about your situation.”

Photos and cards will be processed on-site and residents will take their free senior citizen photo ID card home from the event. Each resident participating in the program will also receive information on life-saving County programs, including Smart911, Vial of Life and Yellow Dot.

Dates and Locations of Free Senior Citizen ID Program

• Tuesday, July 21th, 10am – 1pm, at the Lynbrook Pool in Greis Park, located at 55 Wilbur Street in Lynbrook.

• Thursday, July 23rd, 3pm – 5pm, at the Port Washington Library, located at 1 Library Drive in Port Washington.

• Wednesday, August 19th, 10am – 1pm at the Valley Stream Pool, located at W. Merrick Rd & Fletcher Avenue in Valley Stream.
