Charleys Cheesesteaks, a fast and friendly casual dining franchise that offers a menu chock full of delicious, delectable items – including their trademark cheesesteak sandwiches, wings, French fries, and a plethora of beverages and treats – celebrated the grand opening of their newest Long Island location on June 20 inside of the Walmart Supercenter in Yaphank, NY.
Franchise owner Surendra Patel – who already owned a successful Charleys franchise in New Jersey – noted that Walmart typically features sandwich shops inside of their locations, both to provide a place for employees to dine on their lunch breaks as well as to offer shoppers a place to take a load off of their feet and get a bite to eat during their visit.
To that end, Patel said that the importance of providing good food at an affordable price could not be understated, especially when it comes to Walmart employees, who enjoy an impressive 20 percent discount whenever they dine at Charleys.
"The whole meal consists of a sandwich, soda, and fries, all for just $10 to $11,” he said. “The same meal anywhere else would cost at least $14 or $15, so that's a big savings."
Given the dearth of local food options and the number of businesses in the area, Patel pointed out that opening up a Charleys Cheesesteaks location in Yaphank was an excellent business decision.
“Northwell Health is going to be opening up an emergency walk-in clinic in the same shopping center soon, and there's a hotel nearby that's only a five-minute walk away,” he said. “In addition, there are anywhere between 450 and 500 people who work in the Walmart alone, and there are several other businesses that bring a lot of people to the area as well. All of these people need an option for a place to come, sit down and eat and relax for a while, so it only made sense to open a Charleys in this area.”
In addition to Charleys Cheesesteaks, Patel – ever the entrepreneur – will also be opening a very well-known Long Island-based eatery in the shopping center adjacent to the Yaphank Walmart this coming late August/early September: Bagel Boss, the extremely popular breakfast and lunch franchise that boasts numerous locations throughout Nassau and Suffolk County.
Patel said that he's very excited about opening up his Charleys Cheesesteaks location on Long Island and becoming a part of the close-knit Yaphank community, and he looks forward to serving them hot, mouth-watering, and reasonably-priced sandwiches for many years to come.
“Our goal is to make people happy, and we're happy to be able to provide great, fresh, hot food at an affordable cost,” he said. “We're also very happy to be able to provide this service to Walmart's employees, especially when it comes to the 20 percent discount that we offer them. So, we invite everyone to come to our location in the Yaphank Walmart Supercenter and enjoy our great food.”
